This year and a half has been fraught with hardship in many ways. There is not one person in this community who has not been touched, in some way, by loss. We are still reeling from the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, but many avenues for expressing grief were suspended or canceled during this time period. In response to this unmet need, the Transitions Hospice team in Northwest Indiana is pleased to announce that starting in June 2021, we will offer in-person Grief Support Groups. The support groups will meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month from 1:00-2:00 pm and every 3rd Thursday of the month from 5:30-6:30 pm at our office in Crown Point, located at 11035 Broadway, Suite E.
Chaplain Rob Dorow and Social Worker Justin Hopkins (LSW) will facilitate the groups and offer 13 years of combined experience in hospice and bereavement support. We believe that our community deserves a safe, caring, therapeutic setting in which to learn, connect and express our grief with one another. All are welcome to attend our Grief Support Groups.
Plans are also in the works for Transitions Hospice to partner with skilled nursing and assisted living facilities in our community to host topic-specific groups once a month. Our areas of focus will include, but not be limited to, Alzheimer’s/Dementia, Cancer and Caregiver support. We understand every person has a unique situation, and that sometimes support groups are not a one size fits all solution. With these topic-centered groups, we hope to remedy that need. Transitions Hospice looks forward to supporting the hurting people in our community. For more information, please contact Transitions Hospice at 877-467-6880.
